Car show loophole

Posted By on December 20, 2008

In New York, you can't drive a car off the lot without first showing the dealership proof of insurance. You can, however, buy a car at a car show or from a private individual without showing such proof of insurance. These unlicensed dealers represent a hazard, since they are not bound by the same regulations as everyone else. Support closing the car show loophole.

Sound retarded? Well, the above is actually the case in NY, and folks don't seem to care all that much about it, as they don't want to interfere in the private lives of individuals, and assume that they will follow the laws. However, the above is the same argument made about gun shows, and yet no one seems concerned about interfering with people selling legally owned firearms to each other.
