Finally.

I don't know if this is a java6 thing or an openJDK thing, but finally you can chmod u+x a .jar file and run it and the OS figures out what it needs to do. Mono is newer and this has worked on its exe's for years.

Also, the default widget set is a little prettier. The Eclipse SWT is still nicer, but it's a start. Hell, if Sun really wanted to make it easy, they'd embed the SWT in the build.. While it looks like there is a libswt-3.2-gtk-java package (as well as ones for GCJ and jni), that doesn't help if you're sending the executable to people who have the bare interpreter… unless it statically links it in to the .jar, which I'm not sure if it does.. I'll have to look in to that..
