Global Warming

There seems to be a lot of talk about this, because Al Gore made a movie about it.

So, I'll say it.

I think global warming isn't nearly the problem it is made out to be. I think that we haven't been paying attention to it for long enough to really understand what is going on. Human CO2 emissions are insignificant compared to the emissions produced by geological events (thermal vents, volcanoes, etc.)

And I'm not the only one

In addition to that, I think that the US was right to not sign the Kyoto treaty. While, on the one hand, we don't want to go seriously crudding up our environment, we also don't want to limit economic growth too tremendously either.

Ultimately, I am unconcerned because humans are smart and solve problems. The mantra of “our technology will save us” is not really too far from the truth.

In fact, I think the largest barriers to cheap, clean energy is government subsidies to the fossil fuel industries and irrational fear of nuclear power.
