So, I finally feel like I'm getting things crossed off my list. Last weekend was very productive. Unfortunately, it started with me standing by in station for 5 hours while the southernly fire districts were dealing with the Charlton Tavern (plus adjacent house) burning to the ground which is pretty sad. I've lived here for [...]

Apparently, XP doesn't support most SATA controllers on install. I figured that the XP SP3 OEM version I got would include updated drivers, but apparently support for the SATA device presented by Virtualbox is not supported by XP in the installer. Something like this is supposed to be the fix. I'll go back to using [...]

Actually produces quite a nice loaf – very soft on the inside (likely because there isn't time to develop all the gluten), but might be somewhat lacking in flavor depending on the recipe used. All of the ones I've used so far have had stuff in them – herbs, cheese, etc. but I'll have to [...]

- Virtualbox seamless mode kicks ass – Running on a CPU with the virtualization extensions makes a noticeable speed improvement (as it should) – basically it's near native. – I've spent an hour installing Windows. Okay, so I picked up an OEM copy of XP before it goes out of print, mainly because I had a license code from my laptop (converted to run Linux). Problem is, no one had a spare copy of the media, so I grabbed one, and now have two codes (one for laptop, one for [...]

So, I ordered an additional 1TB hard drive to add to my array so I have a triple mirror (one is none, two is one, three is real redundancy). As it turns out, adding it was nice and easy: Add a new drive to a raid array: We will assume the new drive is /dev/sde [...]

So, I'm listening to The JaK Attack at work today, and they're talking about an article on website Ask Men, where they (Ask Men, not JaK attack) give advice on how to hint that your wife/girlfriend/etc. is fat. Some of the suggestions: – Say her friend looked hotter before she put on all that weight [...]
