I’m done with Facebook

  • Their update system is nondeterministic and lame, rendering different answers depending on when and where you ask.
  • They like to sue people for doing useful things with their data sources.
  • The human interface is annoying.

I will consider diaspora* when it is available.

If you want to talk to me, send me an email or comment on my blog.
If you want to keep me in the loop on your life, comment on a proper RSS-enabled blog forum to which I can subscribe.

As a result, I’ll be commenting here more frequently.

I have been having similar but different issues with FB. I have liked that I can connect with people. but thats about it.

It has cause document control to reach epic uncontrolled levels.
    you wonder how?
    The ambulance company…
They use it to notify some members of activities but do not use others which can notify all. It is also used inconsistently.
the SCA. seems that EVERYONE is making a group and thinking that their group is THE place to put info.
Im about to be the Seneschal/President of our local group (just waiting on the paperwork to process). My first Order of Business is to get our info in one place and tag it as THE place for info and that all other advertised activities are unofficial.
    Its been driving me batty.

Indeed. Hence why I set up an email list for MonthlyGame and was happy when Hawk did the same for Son of Svart. There needs to be a single spot for this. It's okay if it simulcasts to multiple places on different contact vectors (web site update + email list announcement), but duplicates are silly.
