Apparently I had the resolution set to 1200dpi and on some of the pages which were mostly graphics it used too much memory and messed up the printer. At 600dpi, it is printing fine (and not taking the computer 12 hours to process the job before sending it to the printer..) I bet this was [...]

Looks like Sun and SGI are both headed for the end of the line. Kind of a shame, but on the other hand, both IRIX and Solaris failed to keep up with the times – going from a modern Linux or BSD to one of them just feels… clunky.
